Field Crops Cultivation
- In regions where winter temperatures are mild, fields are plowed and furrows are made as spring arrives. During planting, fertilizers are applied to fields that have not yet been fertilized.
- In the south, broad beans are planted as green manure.
- Loose soil in the fields is pressed down with stones, using cylindrical stones called "loğ" for this task. In densely planted cereal fields, sprouts are fed to animals.
- Necessary pest control and protection measures are also carried out in the granaries.
Fruit Cultivation
- Holes necessary for planting saplings are dug. Suitable areas of the orchards are deeply tilled and fertilized.
- Sapling removal, pruning, and distribution are done. It's planting time for regions with a temperate climate. The planting process for olive saplings is carried out. Pear and apple seeds are sown in trays for germination.
- Pruning of citrus trees and olive trees is carried out. Preparation for grafting begins.
- Winter spraying is carried out in all orchards.
- Bananas, dates, and citrus fruits can be harvested. Packaging and marketing activities continue. They are stored in granaries according to the appropriate techniques.
Vegetable Cultivation
- Forced vegetable cultivation continues in suitable climate regions and greenhouses.
- Preparations for hotbeds begin again in suitable climate regions. Towards the end of the month, seeds are planted in prepared hotbeds. Some vegetable seedlings are pricked out.
- Overdue garden tilling is completed. Various fertilizations are applied.
- It's planting time for some vegetables in warm climate regions.
- It's the time for irrigation, pruning, and weeding in hotbeds and greenhouses.
- Various pests are being controlled in hotbeds and greenhouses.
- Curly lettuce, leeks, cabbage, spinach, parsley, and similar winter vegetables are harvested. The vegetables are stored in appropriate conditions in granaries and cold storage rooms. After packaging, the vegetables are shipped to the market.
Viticulture
- In areas where the temperature is warm, vine bottoms are opened, and root collars are cleaned. Fertilization can be applied. In some temperate regions, deep plowing is done.
- The grapes stored in cold storage rooms are shipped to the market.
Animal Husbandry
- Since animals are kept in barns in many places, it's important to clean, ventilate, and maintain the barns. Disease prevention measures should be taken in the barns.
- Animals should be fed with various feeds. Pest control should be implemented, and the air quality in the environment where the animals are kept should be ensured.
- Preparations for birth begin.
- In some regions where the weather is warm, pastures are preferred for animals to graze.
- Preventive vaccination procedures are carried out against diseases.
Poultry Farming
- Ventilation and cleaning tasks are carried out frequently.
- Preparations for incubation can begin.
- When poultry are generally raised indoors, they should be fed with appropriate types of feed.
- The animals in the poultry houses should be protected against various diseases with vaccines. Medications should also be given along with feed.
Beekeeping
- Since bees are constantly in the hive, it's necessary to clean and ventilate the hive entrance.
- If there isn't enough food for the bees, powdered sugar is placed on a piece of cloth and put into the hive. To prevent sleeping bees from falling and dying, the hive and frames should not be disturbed.
- Control measures are taken against pests and diseases that may be observed in the beehive.
