Field agriculture

  • Soil cultivation should generally be completed. However, as preparation for autumn planting, soil is plowed, stubbles are disrupted, and the land is readied for second crop planting. Some regions practice double and triple cropping.
  • In some regions, although late, second crops such as corn, pumpkin, beans, and turnips are planted as second crops for tobacco, sunflower, and cotton.
  • Weeding, irrigation, hoeing, topping, and other maintenance tasks are carried out in all types of crops.
  • Efforts to combat all kinds of diseases and pests continue.
  • Harvesting and threshing operations continue in grains. Crops are gathered into barns for storage.

Fruit farming

  • Soil cultivation, plowing, and harrowing continue in some orchards and nurseries.
  • Planting operations have been completed.
  • In temperate climates, bud grafting begins while pruning is finished. However, in some regions, cancerous branches are cut for control purposes. Tip pruning continues. Irrigation, hoeing, and all sorts of maintenance are diligently carried out throughout the month. Thinning is done in fruits. 
  • All kinds of diseases in fruit trees are fought against.
  • In temperate regions, all kinds of fruit harvesting begins. Fruits are packaged and shipped to markets. Some fruits are also dried.

Vegetable farming

  • Preparation of the soil for vegetable cultivation in cool areas is completed by the beginning of the month.
  • All types of vegetable seed sowing and seedling planting are completed this month. Plantings for vegetables to be planted as second crops and for autumn-harvested vegetables are carried out.
  • Weeding, tip pruning, side shoot removal, and irrigation continue throughout the month in vegetables. Fertilizers are applied either through irrigation or as foliar spray. Earthing up is done, various vegetables are staked and tied to stakes.

  • Efforts are made to combat all kinds of diseases and pests. Towards the end of the month, early grapes start to be harvested and then brought to the market.

Animal husbandry

  • Cleaning, disinfection, and other maintenance tasks continue in the barns.
  • Animals are generally fed in pastures. Newborn calves are given bran, oatmeal, peas, and clover. Grooming continues.
  • Milk processing and evaluation continue.
  • Since pastures are the places where animals will constantly be, rotational grazing should be practiced. Harvesting, drying, and storing of grass and forage crops continue.
  • Efforts are made to combat all kinds of animal diseases and pests.

Poultry farming

  • Maintenance and cleaning are continued in the poultry houses.
  • Incubation work is completed at the beginning of this month. In addition to green feed, other supplements are also provided to chickens. Especially, feeding chicks remains important.
  • Precautions should be taken against various chicken diseases, and the areas where chickens roam should be limed.

Beekeeping

  • Frames filled with honey are removed, and new empty frames are placed in their positions. Maintenance and cleaning continue in the hives.
  • Efforts to combat all kinds of diseases continue.
  • Honey harvesting has begun in some regions.
